Who We Are

Shining Light Transitional Homes for Young Adults is a nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals overcome homelessness, poverty, and reintegration challenges. Through faith-based guidance and essential support, we empower young adults to build stable, independent lives.

Problem Statement

At Shining Light Transitional Homes for Young Adults, we recognize the significant challenges many young adults face, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. With nearly 24 million youths in the United States, approximately 11.4 million are growing up in low-income or impoverished families. Poverty is a key factor contributing to academic struggles, poor health, and increased risks for these individuals
Our organization aims to address the following critical issues affecting at-risk young adults:

Lack of Stable Housing

Many young adults lack a secure and structured living environment.

Insufficient Support Systems

After transitioning to independence, many struggle without reliable guidance and mentorship.

Underutilization of Community Resources

Limited awareness or accessibility of vital community-based services hinders their progress.

Increased Hospital Admissions

The absence of physical and mental health interventions leads to higher hospital visits.

Strain on Healthcare Systems

Homelessness results in longer hospital stays and overuse of emergency care.

Rise in Emergency and Crisis Care Admissions

Without proper intervention, many individuals repeatedly seek urgent care services.

Higher Criminal Activity and Incarceration Rates

Economic hardship and lack of support contribute to local crime and imprisonment.
